Academics and intellectuals alike know that flexibility is key. Sure, the Scholar is a tote, but for those times when you need your arms back, simply untuck the hidden straps and carry it as a backpack. Dual side pockets are great for storing a water bottle and umbrella, and two front zip pockets are perfect for securing the small stuff. Carry it how you choose.
